Prepare for a career in healthcare with our Medical Scribe Specialized Training Certificate Program. This course will introduce a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities of medical scribes, while developing the skills required to work effectively within a variety of clinical settings.
Students will gain the knowledge of medical technology and anatomy to document the medical record accurately and efficiently with new skills, including effective, sensitive, respectful, and culturally informed communication, professionalism, and confidentiality required in the healthcare industry. Things to Consider Before Enrolling
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred (required)
- Passing of a medical terminology course (preferred)
- Passing of a college-level biology or chemistry course (preferred)
- Passing of a college-level anatomy or physiology course (preferred)
- Work or volunteer experience in a clinical setting (preferred)
Student expectations to be successful in this course:
- Ability to listen and follow auditory directions
- Ability to visually see and use a computer
- Ability to type over 65 words per minutes with at least 80% accuracy (note: medical transcriptionists are expected to type over 80-100 words per minute)
- Ability to understand and write English proficiently
